Zimbabwe international Tawanda Maswanhise scored his 10th league of the season in the Scottish Premiership when his Motherwell drew one all with Hibernian yesterday.
Jens Berthel Askou side, missing hugely influential midfielder Elliot Watt, withstood first-half pressure from the hosts and took the lead when an excellent finish from Maswanhise had the visitors heading for a statement win.
But Hibs capitalised on slack Well defending to secure a deserved point when Jordan Obita found Scotland striker Bowie, who adjusted his body well after an awkward first touch to equalise.
Both sides passed up opportunities to win it, with Ibrahim Said somehow planting a near-post header wide for the visitors, but a draw was fair in a gripping encounter.
The result keeps Well fourth, with David Gray's side still two points adrift in fifth.
Masvanhise’s goal was a masterpiece.
It took just three passes from Motherwell’s own 18 yard box before the ball was in the net at the other end of the pitch. An excellent example of counter-attacking football
Last weekend Maswanhise returned from Africa Cup of Nations duty to fire Motherwell to their first win of 2026.

And the Zimbabwean winger reckons he is in the form of his career after netting his 13th goal in all competitions this season in the win over St Mirren.
The Steelmen made it four wins on the spin at Fir Park as Maswanhise and Rangers-linked Elliot Watt struck.
Having netted for his homeland in a 3-2 defeat to South Africa in Morocco, Maswanhise picked up where he left off in ML1 by delivering another vital strike for Askou’s men.
And he reckons he is on top form right now.
The 23-year-old said: “I’m happy that I’m playing well. It’s probably the best form of my career and it’s a big improvement from last season.
“I know this league more as well, so I’m starting to know how to perform in tight games.
“I’ve got to keep going and keep looking forward to the next game, so I don’t really set myself targets.
“I hope to play well on a Saturday and get a goal or assist.
“I think that’s an extra bonus in my game. I’m doing that quite consistently.”
The Steelmen, just two points off second-spot, are knocking on the door of being title contenders with their recent performances against the top three sides, drawing 0-0 with leaders Hearts, beating second-place Celtic 2-0 and losing narrowly 1-0 to third-place Rangers after being controversially denied a late penalty.
But Maswanhise says the high-flying squad are staying grounded.
He said: “I think you can clearly see from the outside we are developing well in terms of this new system we are playing.
“We just need to keep going and look forward.
“I don’t think we’re looking back in terms of points we perhaps should have on the table.
“We’re playing with a lot of confidence and that comes from winning games.
“We’re picking up points with this new system and it’s giving everyone the confidence and belief to do what we’re doing.
“I feel like we need the backing of the fans as well.
“Whenever we’re 1-0 down or we’re winning, we need that energy from the Motherwell fans.
“I’m happy to see more fans out there as well.”
