Zim’s resilience: A call for unconditional removal of illicit economic sanctions

These sanctions, imposed without just cause, have curtailed access to essential goods and services, and undermined the country's development aspirations.

The imposition of illegal economic sanctions on Zimbabwe by the United States and its allies has had a profoundly negative impact on the nation's economy, precipitating widespread hardship and stunting economic growth.

These sanctions, imposed without just cause, have curtailed access to essential goods and services, and undermined the country's development aspirations.

It is imperative that these illegal economic sanctions be unconditionally and completely removed, as they serve no legitimate purpose and are, in fact, a blatant attempt to strangle Zimbabwe's economy and undermine its sovereignty.

The government, under the visionary leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has demonstrated remarkable resilience and perseverance in the face of these draconian measures.

President Mnangagwa's administration has remained steadfast in its commitment to driving economic development and growth, with a clear roadmap to achieve an upper-middle-income society by 2030.

The President's mantra of “leaving no one and no place behind” has guided his government's efforts to empower all Zimbabweans, regardless of race, gender, or political affiliation.

In fact, the international community, particularly the United States and its allies, should take note of Zimbabwe's unwavering determination to chart its own course and pursue its development agenda.

The illegal sanctions have not cowed the Zimbabwean people; instead, they have galvanised a sense of national unity and resolve.

On October 25, Zimbabweans from all walks of life came together to demonstrate their support for President Mnangagwa and call for the unconditional removal of these illegal economic sanctions.

This display of unity and solidarity sent a clear message to the international community that Zimbabwe will not be intimidated or bullied into submission.

The people of Zimbabwe stand shoulder-to-shoulder with their President, who has demonstrated exemplary leadership in the face of adversity.

President Mnangagwa's transformative agenda has already yielded significant dividends, with massive infrastructure development projects transforming the country's landscape.

The international community should recognise that Zimbabwe is moving forward, sanctions notwithstanding.

The country's economic growth and development are a testament to the resilience and determination of the Zimbabwean people.

It is time for the United States and its allies to acknowledge this reality and work towards a new era of cooperation and partnership with Zimbabwe.

To this end, we reiterate our call for the unconditional removal of these illegal economic sanctions.

We owe it to ourselves, our children, and future generations to stand up for our rights and demand an end to this economic strangulation.

The removal of sanctions is not a partisan issue; it is a national imperative.

The people have spoken, and their message is clear: Zimbabwe will not be held back by external forces.

We will continue to work towards a prosperous and thriving Zimbabwe, and we call on the international community to join us in this endeavour.
