Wherever she is, Gallie Kawanzaruwa finds herself flying the Zimbabwe flag.

Gallie (as she is lovingly known) has been appointed Ambassador by the international group, Women Changing the World. She will be based in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates.

The movers and shakers in the Women Changing the World are Oprah Winfrey in the US and the Duchess of York, Fergusson, our own Zimbabwean indefatigable Terai Trent as administrator.

They are based in London, United Kingdom.

Already the 2024 agenda for Women Changing the World has been set and reveals a tireless spirit dedicated to changing the role of women in the new global world.

This will take Dr. Gallie to London in May, followed by another meeting in Australia.

As if that is not enough, Gallie is already booked to participate in the mother of all women’s indabas, the Second Women of Substance Conference in Masvingo in June.

As ambassador, Gallie will broadcast and encourage women in the United Arab Emirates to participate in life-changing events involving a look at empowerment strategies for women.

Our correspondent has discovered that while the Women Changing the World are a serious bunch, they seem to have a knack for showing off and having a grand time when they meet.

Your correspondent found a sentence in the instructions for the ambassador which says that the London event will be highlighted by a very important persons banquet, presentation of awards and a mother of all showoff gatherings.

It is a who is who event.

Gallie left Zimbabwe in 2002 on a research trip to the United Arab Emirates and has remained there ever since.

She is a senior academic officer in the Department of Higher Technical Colleges in the Emirates.
