TG Rhymz shines bright with new love anthem ‘Chiedza’

In Chiedza, TG Rhymz opens up about the intensity of his emotions, using powerful imagery to convey the depth of his love.

Upcoming artist, TG Rhymz, born Tatenda Dembedza, is back with his latest single titled Chiedza, which means “light” in Shona.

The soulful love song features Ruuniq, real name Rumbidzai Mutasa, on the chorus and showcases TG Rhymz’s versatility as a rapper and singer.

In Chiedza, TG Rhymz opens up about the intensity of his emotions, using powerful imagery to convey the depth of his love.

In the song he says: “I need them sea divers ndanyura like Killer T”, expressing how deeply he's fallen in love — so deep that only sea divers can reach him, drawing a comparison to Killer T’s song Kana Ndanyura.

The song is a beautiful blend of rap and melody, with a touching tribute to his daughters, Skylah and Shaniah, whom he refers to as blessings.

“Ndasimudza maoko and I’m thanking Messiah, I’m counting my blessings  — Skylah, Shaniah."

Dembedza explains that the line came to him naturally, as the names Skylah and Shaniah rhyme well together.

“It’s a line that just popped up in my mind because Skylah rhymes with Shaniah, and I just thought expressing how much of a blessing they are to me in the song.”

TG Rhymz wanted to experiment with a different sound on Chiedza, citing the misconception that rap music is difficult to understand.

“I figured a lot of people don’t actually understand hard rap, so I had to try something different, sticking to rap but making it a bit melodic and featuring Ruuniq on the chorus was a deliberate choice to create a more accessible and catchy sound,” said the artist.

Ruuniq expressed that working with TG Rhymz was never a challenge, and the song's concept was impressive from the start.

“I enjoyed working with TG Rhymz. I got to know about him through a friend, had the beat sent with the idea to the song, and here is Chiedza — a beautiful sing-along song.

“He is easy-going and free, and you can express ideas to him, which made it a good collaboration.”

Danny Nyamushamba, aka Dannykillah, who recorded the track, echoes Ruuniq's sentiments about the song.

“Chiedza is a great track and one of my favourite productions.”

He also praises TG Rhymz for his creativity and work ethic.

“TG Rhymz is very creative and understands that you have to let the producer do what he knows best without trying to override the producer." said Nyamushamba.

With previous hits like Checkmate, Big Brains, Kisses to Curses, and Magevha, T.G Rhymz continues to solidify his artistry with Chiedza.
