INSPIRED by his recent honour, prolific gospel singer Pastor Norest Matende is elevating his mission to unite the Christian community with a bold move of launching two uplifting albums at once.
Matende, who was crowned the Fast-rising Gospel Music Minister at the Dungwiza Community Trailblazers Awards, says the recognition has fuelled his ambition to reach new heights in gospel music.
The double album launch is poised to mark a significant moment in his gospel music journey in Chitungwiza.
“We haven’t released an album in the past two years since the launch of my fourth album, and the awards have inspired us to do two albums,” Matende said.
Responding to calls from fans, plans are underway for a double album launch — one album featuring chipostori (Vapostori) songs in a cappella style, without guitars, and another with guitar accompaniment.
“Our fans are calling on us to sing a Vapostori song,” Matende said.
“We've gone for two years without releasing an album.
“We're going to release two albums soon – one with Chipostori songs only, without guitars, and the other one with guitars in the background.”

Though album titles are yet to be finalised, Matende was confident that gospel music fans can anticipate standout tracks such as Ndamuwana Jesu and Ndanzwa Izwi.
“Their messages take me back to my debut album titled Anointed Scriptures,” Matende said.
“They aim to unite Christians with one goal: to preach the word of Jesus Christ.
“That's my goal, whether one is wearing a suit or is in garments.”
Matende has released four albums to date including Anointed Scriptures (2018), Ndiye Mwari, Panosvikika and Torima Munda.
