Sekuru Nyangatayani showcases Zim traditional medicine at Hong Kong Expo

The prestigious event, organised by Bauhinia magazine and hosted by the Bauhinia Cultural Group, brings together some of the world’s leading traditional medicine practitioners.

Renowned Glendale-based traditional healer, Sekuru Nyangatayani (born Peter Chingudzi), has arrived in Hong Kong to participate in the Hong Kong International Chinese Medicine and Traditional Medicine Conference 2025.

The prestigious event, organised by Bauhinia magazine and hosted by the Bauhinia Cultural Group, brings together some of the world’s leading traditional medicine practitioners.

Sekuru Nyangatayani is exhibiting his herbal remedies alongside global peers, an opportunity he says will not only showcase Zimbabwe’s indigenous knowledge systems but also foster collaboration with Chinese universities, researchers, and industry professionals.

“This event is a significant milestone for Zimbabwe as it promotes our traditional medicine practices and products globally,” he said.

“It is also a platform for cultural exchange, creating synergies between indigenous knowledge and tourism at local, regional, and international levels.”

The World Health Organisation recognises traditional medicine as an important component of healthcare, and many countries are integrating such practices into their national health systems. Nyangatayani believes the Hong Kong conference offers Zimbabwe an opportunity to strengthen its place in that space.

He expressed optimism that the exposure will pave the way for partnerships and innovations in traditional medicine, while raising Zimbabwe’s profile internationally.

“I am proud to be representing my country. This is not only about me but about putting Zimbabwe on the map in the field of traditional medicine,” he said.

By sharing his remedies and engaging with fellow practitioners, Sekuru Nyangatayani is contributing to the growing recognition of traditional medicine worldwide.
