Zimbabwe’s Miss Universe ready for Thailand showdown.

Zimbabwe’s representative at the 74th Miss Universe pageant, Lyshanda Moyas, has joined more than 80 contestants from across the globe in Thailand

Zimbabwe’s representative at the 74th Miss Universe pageant, Lyshanda Moyas, has joined more than 80 contestants from across the globe in Thailand, where the much-anticipated international beauty competition kicked off from yesterday to November 21.

According to the official Miss Universe Thailand schedule, delegates began arriving in Bangkok yesterday, marking the start of a three-week festival of culture, fashion and empowerment.

The event will culminate in the final coronation night on November 21, where the reigning Miss Universe will crown her successor.

Moyas, who was crowned in Harare earlier this year, has been undergoing intense grooming and public speaking training ahead of her departure.

Her team says she was ready to make the nation proud on the global stage.

“She has worked tirelessly to prepare for this competition — from wardrobe coordination to catwalk sessions and charity presentations,” said a member of the Miss Universe Zimbabwe organising committee.

“This is not just a beauty contest; it’s a platform for advocacy and cultural exchange.”

The 2025 Miss Universe edition promises to be a colourful spectacle, showcasing Thailand’s tourism and cultural diversity.

After registration and fittings in Bangkok, the contestants will travel to Phuket and Pattaya for a series of cultural activities, fashion shows and charity galas.

Highlights include the Peranakan Fashion Show on November 10, the Swimsuit Fashion Show on November 14, and the National Costume Competition on November 19, where Moyas is expected to don an outfit inspired by local heritage and artistry.

The pageant’s preliminary competition will also take place on November 19, setting the stage for the grand finale in Bangkok two days later.

“Zimbabwe’s participation at Miss Universe goes beyond the runway — it’s about telling our story to the world through fashion, language, and confidence,” said a local modelling agent Mavis Koslak.

“This is a major moment for local designers and creatives who collaborated to craft her wardrobe and national costume.”

Miss Universe has grown into one of the most-watched global events, blending glamour with social impact.

For Zimbabwe, the competition offers a rare opportunity to showcase its cultural pride and creative talent on an international platform.

The final show, set for November 21, will crown the 74th Miss Universe, followed by a coronation party before delegates depart on November 22.

Zimbabweans back home are rallying behind their queen, hoping she shines brightly under the Thai spotlight — proving once again that the country’s beauty, talent, and resilience can captivate the world.
