Winky D to headline Musabvunda

Winky D

For long recognised as a champion of worthy causes, dancehall sensation Winky D will be the star attraction at this year’s edition of the Musabvunda Wellness Event and Music Festival to be held in Harare at the end of the month.

Silent Killer, Saint Floew, Voltz JT and Nisha Ts will be part of the two-day wellness and music fiesta to be held at Blakiston Primary School.

The event, which is expected to draw thousands of fitness enthusiasts and runners will start with strength wars, fitness challenges, tug of war, step aerobics with a live band, katabox and dance fitness on November 29 before climaxing with the half marathon and music festival the following day.

Guests will pay US$15 for the ordinary ticket and US$20 for the VIP ticket to be part of this annual fitness and music fiesta. Tickets are available online and at all Musabvunda Fitness and Lifestyle shops, organisers said.

Musabvunda Fitness and Lifestyle CEO and founder Kudzai “The Greatkhalister” Pasipanodya, a fitness enthusiast and corporate executive, said this year’s event would be bigger and better.

He said having Winky D as the headline act and major drawcard was in line with their values as a progressive fitness and lifestyle movement.

“Winky D has for a long been championing social commentary designed to promote responsible living,” Pasipanodya said.

“From advising fathers to seize opportunities as they arise in life to promote love and encouraging sober habits amongst youths; his narrative aligns with our broader vision to promote excellence and productivity as well as responsible living.

“Having him headlining our annual Musabvunda Fitness Event and Music Festival is thus aligned to our values where we seek to promote maximum capacity utilisation as well as responsible living particularly at a time when the World Health Organisation  reported that 40% of deaths in Zimbabwe were caused by non-communicable diseases.

“That we have champions in the mold of Winky D endorsing our events through music is thus a welcome move.”

Other entertainers at the annual event who include Silent Killer, Saint Floew, Voltz JT and Nisha Ts are all enjoying their all-time career highs with runaway hits from their music productions and Pasipanodya having such classy acts at their event aligns with the scale of this annual programme.

“The Musabvunda Fitness Event and Wellness Festival is an annual signature event designed to bring together fitness enthusiasts and music lovers under the banner of wellness and healthy living,” Pasipanodya said.

“While the organisation hosts various wellness and fitness events during the course of the year, the fitness and music festival is the mother of all Musabvunda events and it draws thousands of runners and fitness enthusiasts annually.

“We are happy to have such top musicians in Zimbabwe coming to celebrate with us and entertain our participants.”

The Musabvunda visionary said while the majority of their events are held over one day, the fitness event and music festival is held over two days and the line-up of artistes is always a fusion of the industry heavyweights plus the fresh and exciting talent.

“Unique about this event is that it is held over two days, with the second day marking the climax, where participants get their recognition in terms of medals and certificates,” Pasipanodya said.

“The music then becomes the cherry on top as delegates get to enjoy quality music from top local entertainers.”

He said Musabvunda Festival has had the likes of sungura godfather Nicholas “Madzibaba” Zakaria performing in past editions, and the same goes for Baba Harare who unfortunately will be in the UK during this year's edition.

“From Winky D, Silent Killer, Saint Floew, Voltz JT to Nisha Ts one can see a deliberate investment in taste and uniqueness. We are an innovative brand and movement, hence the desire to address the music needs of all,” Pasipanodya said.

He said they have plans to nationalise and regionalise their movement so that as many people benefit from their noble cause.

“We believe a healthy nation is a productive nation, and we are even incorporating anti-drug and substance abuse campaigns in line with the push by the government and other development organisations,” Pasipanodya said.

“We are brand from the people and by the people and we will continue championing tailored programmes and events that make a difference in the lives of our communities.

“Fitness and wellness is a big deal for human survival and we are proud to be working with various partners and stakeholders in entrenching this ideal.”
