THE Zimbabwe Sevens rugby team will play in the Hong Kong leg of the IRB Sevens World Series in March.

The Cheetahs received the invitation from the International Rugby Board this week. The IRB Sevens is an eight-legged series which takes core teams to eight cities around the world. The Hong Kong leg is the sixth after Dubai (UAE), George (South Africa), Wellington (New Zealand), Las Vegas (USA), and Adelaide (Australia). They also play in London and Edinburgh in Britain.  Zimbabwe, a non-core member, are automatic participants in Dubai and George, with occasional appearances in Hong Kong.Zimbabwe manager Bruce Hobson said the Cheetahs could play in more events if the IRB expand the series to 12 as being mulled.  — Staff Writer.
