The revised Pathfinder also boasts a slightly refreshed exterior, thanks to a new bonnet, redesigned grille and more rounded front bumper. At the rear, the update includes new rear bumper design with sharper edges and harder lines to exude toughness.“The new Pathfinder remains a distinctively tough SUV and it is still a very upright, powerful, and downright commanding presence on the road, with an added touch of sportiness and revised elements creating a modern off-road classic,” says Johan Kleynhans, director of marketing and sales and aftersales at Nissan South Africa. The 2,5DCi four-cylinder diesel engine has been significantly updated with Nissan claiming it to be more refined as well as offering increased performance. Nissan’s ESP stability control system uses multiple sensors to prevent slip in on-road conditions, but can be deactivated for maximum off-road ability.Despite the significant power gain, Nissan claims the Pathfinder consumes just 8,5 litres/100 km, with CO2 exhaust emissions decreased by 40 g/km to 224 g/km.Aimed at increasing the perceived quality, the Pathfinder’s interior boasts new switchgear, redesigned instrument cluster, revised door trim, new seat fabric and chrome trim. Storage bins have increased in size for an even more practical cabin. Also new are the 40GB Nissan Premium Infotainment System with satellite navigation and Bose premium sound system. “With its generous new equipment levels and perfectly-judged cabin enhancements, the Pathfinder is no longer just a tough SUV, but extremely intelligent. A perfect combination of 4×4 strengths with modern automotive comfort and technology, the new Pathfinder will please even the most demanding SUV buyer,” concludes Terry Mashoko, Nissan SA product manager for Pathfinder. –– Carmag.
