Ferrer reach Barcelona Open final

David Ferrer emerged victorious from a tight semi-final with Milos Raonic to reach his fourth Barcelona Open final.

The number three seed won 7-6 (7-2) 7-6 (7-5) to set up an all-Spanish final against Rafael Nadal or Fernando Verdasco, who meet later yesterday.

Raonic, (21) produced a similar service display to the one which helped him beat Britain’s Andy Murray in the quarter-finals, sending down 15 aces. But the Canadian could not cope with Ferrer’s groundstrokes on the clay.

“It was very difficult to beat him,” said Ferrer. “We both had our chances. It was a question of winning or losing the key points.” — BBCSport
