Sulumani, Winky D main attractions at Dzimbahwe festival

REPORT BY KENNETH NYANGANI The major attraction is likely to be a show featuring Sulumani Chimbetu and dancehall star Winky D.

  Various venues have been selected to host the five-day extravaganza. Performances and productions will be on stages at Great Zimbabwe University, Charles Austin Theatre and Masvingo Civic Centre, among others.

  Dzimbahwe Arts Festival manager Jacob Mapara promised fireworks with the coming on board of the talented music duo of Chimbetu and Winky D.

  “Preparations are at an advanced stage. As usual, we have been hosting successful festivals in the previous years and I would like to assure music lovers that this year’s event will be bigger and better,” said Mapara.

  “Sulumani and Winky D will perform at Club Oasis on September 28. l think the musicians have done very well to promote arts in the country.

  “The festival has many events that include dance, poetry, reading, traditional and contemporary music and many more. This year we are expecting a big turnout.”

 

  Also taking place during the festival is the Miss Great Zimbabwe University beauty pageant and the family fun day at the Show Grounds.

  This year’s festival marks the fifth edition.
