ZIMBABWE athlete Dzingai Dandare has set his sights on the oldest race in the country, the Harare Athletics Club (HAC) 20 Miller that is on early next month.

The 24-year-old athlete whose time of 30. 28 saw him finishing third at the Woodview Athletic Club 10km race in Botswana last week hopes to carry his good form into the HAC 20 Miller to be held on December 2.
Though he failed to beat his personal best time of 29,53 achieved at last year’s Highglen 10 race in which he finished second to Kevin Pangiso, Dandare feels he is on the right course.
“I have been improving a lot. Three weeks ago I came second at the SAPS 15km race in Durban, South Africa with a time of 46,37. In Botswana, it was a hilly course, but I managed to do well and that gives me hope that the HAC 20 Miller race will be mine,” said Dandara.
Dandare would, however, not find it easy in the 42-year-old race as it is likely to field some of the most seasoned campaigners. He is likely to face stiff competition from defending champion Nkosiyazi Sibanda, who won last year’s race with a time of 1.45.33. Other contenders are three-time Comrades marathon winner Stephen Muzhingi, who won the race in 2003, Lewis Masunda and Jonathan Chinyoka.
