Hippo Valley, who are favorites to gain Premier Soccer League promotion this year, acquired the services of Chunga recently in a bid to improve football in the Lowveld.

Last season they came second to neighbours Triangle, who were promoted to the top-flight football league.

In an interview with Standardsport recently, Mudambanuki said Chunga is a renowned young talent identifier of football in the country, adding that he was going to inspire a lot of youth in the marginalised Chiredzi.

“The major reason we brought Chunga here is for him to develop and identify talent. This is why in his contract we did not talk about gaining promotion into premiership. He is the ambassador of Zimbabwean football and we all know his ability to groom youngsters,” said Mudambanuki.

Turning to his team, Mudambanuki said: “He shall also be given a chance to tour various schools in Chiredzi imparting various skills to the youngsters. I can also assure you we are going to continue playing our exciting football and we have returned most of our players,” he added.

Chunga, who started the season on a good note after his side thrashed Mutare City Rovers 3-0 at Sakubva Stadium last Sunday in their season opener said: “My main target is to develop talent in the Eastern Region and l believe it is a process. Naturally, I am a happy person because everyone at Hippo is supporting me; administrators, players and supporters.”
