Bhunu, who prior to his ascendancy to the presidency, was the association’s vice president, was the only nominee for the post, taking over from Anne Martin.
Martin could not contest as she has served her two three-year terms.
Martin Lorke, who served as a board member in the previous executive, was also elected as the association’s vice president unopposed.
Bulawayo’s Beverley de Souza, Kuda Muhwandagara of Harare, Rutendo Chabururuka (Harare and Mutare’s Vincent Nyatoti were elected as board members.
Bhunu told Standardsport that the new board will have to strategise to find ways of making sure that Zimbabwe gains promotion in Davis Cup.
“Our main goal has more to do with development of players and coaches. We have to increase visibility, especially in primary schools. There is also a great need to find ways of gaining promotion in [the] Davis Cup where we are in Group III,” he said.
