MOSES “Bambo” Chunga’s Chiredzi FC continued to sing the blues in their premiership debut season after falling to Black Rhinos in a league match at Rimuka yesterday.
Wilson Chakanyuka’s 21st minute penalty and Beven Chikaka’s seemingly controversial goal in the 38th minute condemned the Chiredzi outfit to their third straight defeat in four matches.
Chiredzi FC Sam Msimbu’s 28th minute equaliser had given Chunga’s outfit hope, but all was in vain when Chikaka struck the winner.
However, Chunga remains confident that his project will prosper.
“Prophets of doom may say whatever they want but we will come right. We are just lacking confidence and we have to work on that. I remain hopeful. I would rather not talk about their second goal because every dog has its day. Tomorrow it might be our day,” Chunga said.
Black Rhinos, who are sponsored by Savanna Tobacco, through their Pacific Storm brand, got the breakthrough in the 20th minute after Chiredzi FC’s Burban Bakali handled Phillip Marufu’s cross inside the box and up stepped Chakanyuka to beat Simon Kasikire in goals for Chiredzi from the penalty spot.
Chiredzi FC did not throw in the towel as they found the equaliser through Msimbu eight minutes later.
