The 30-year-old was conspicuous by his absence last Wednesday when Brondby beat English giants Liverpool 2-1 in a friendly match at their Brondy Stadion.

The former Motor Action and CAPS United man made a total of 46 appearances in his two seasons at Brondby where he scored six goals.

Hobro handed Antipas shirt number 80 – the same number he donned at Brondby- when he was officially presented yesterday morning and is expected to make his debut today against OB Odense when they kickoff their Superliga campaign.

In announcing the capture of Antipas yesterday, both Hobro president Steen Juulsgaard and his sporting director Jens Sorensen described the move as their biggest football deal in their history.

“We have many talented football players at Hobro, but we lacked someone who can run deep and through the links. Quincy Antipas has these core competencies which he has proven in the clubs he has played in the past,” said Sorensen.

Antipas said opting to join Hobro was in pursuit of new challenges and more game time.

“I feel like I need new challenges. At the same time, I would also like to play at a club where I can get some playing time and be used, where I am best. I feel that Hobro IK can offer that,” said Antipas.

He however will miss playing in the Uefa Europa League with Brondby.

The Zimbabwean’s move was partly inspired by the return to Brondby of veteran Swedish forward Johan Elmander who joins from Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Brondby yesterday also announced the transfer of Antipas with the club’s sporting director Per Rud thanking the attacker for his time at Brondby Stadion.

“I wish to say that it is Quincy’s desire to switch,” said Rud. “We still believe that he could play a role here. However, we have complied with his wishes, because we are pleased with the trade which has been agreed on and we wish Quincy everything good in the future. He is a well-liked colleague and teammate, we say goodbye to, and therefore big thanks for all the great experiences, he helped create at Brondby IF.

“I’ve known Quincy for many years and spotted him during his time in the lower division during a match between Blokhus and Hjorring. We picked him for HB Koge, where he, despite relegation from the Superliga impressed. Everyone remembers, what difference Quincy did, when the club won the battle against relegation,” said Rud.

Since arriving in Denmark six years ago, Hobro is Antipas’ fifth club in the Scandinavian country after also turning out for lower division side Blokhus, HB Koge and Silas Songani’s current club Sonderjyeske. Antipas has also played in Morocco for Moghreb Tetouan and MAS Fez.

Meanwhile, Songani lasted 63 minutes in yesterday’s 0-0 home draw with Aalborg.
