Located at the heart of Nyameni high-density suburb, the entertainment joint was opened in December 2013 and has since become an entertainment hub for the people of Marondera and surrounding areas.

As part of the celebrations, notable local artistes will take turns to perform each week until end of December.

Yesterday, Dendera exponent Sulumani Chimbetu and dancehall chanter Shinsoman opened the celebrations, leaving another dancehall chanter Sniper Storm to take over next Saturday.

The main event has been pegged for December 19 when sungura king Alick Macheso will share the stage with Faheem Somanje of Pengaudzoke. To conclude the celebrations will be contemporary musician Jah Prayzah who will be performing alongside Jean Masters on Boxing Day.

Daniel Masaiti, The Legends Sports Diner proprietor told The Standard Style that he saw it befitting to thank his patrons with a powerful line-up of musicians this month.

“We are celebrating our second anniversary and I thought it wise to honour our patrons with top local musicians who will perform in Marondera this month. The joint was opened in December 2013 and despite the harsh-economic challenges, we are happy that today we are still in the game,” he said.

“Macheso, Sulu, Jah Prayzah, Jean Masters and Sniper Storm, among others, will be in town for the celebrations.” While most top entertainment joints have either closed or relocated, the opening of The Legends Sports Diner has given a lifeline to those who want to party in the otherwise dormant town.

The bar has proven to be popular with patrons, some travelling from as far as Macheke and Harare just to have a “feel of the place”.

Established artistes such as Peter Moyo, Macheso, Sulumani and Extra Kwazvose have already performed at the joint. Masaiti said he came up with the idea of a state-of-the-art entertainment place after realising that little was being done in the Mashonaland East provincial capital as far as leisure was concerned.

The Legends has many offerings. It has a non-smoking zone situated on the upper room while the smoking zone is at the ground floor. The VIP lounge only admits subscribed members and is furnished with luxurious and expensive couches. On the other side, people can treat themselves to some braai and other fast foods.
