Initially, the 47-year-old Malope who last performed in the capital seven years ago was to headline one show on May 28 at Harare Gardens.

However, due to fans’ request, she will now travel to Bulawayo the following day for a performance at Queens Sports Club.

Malope will be in Zimbabwe as part of celebrations to mark her 30-year-old music career.

Concert organiser Barbra Chikosi of Red Rose Entertainment confirmed to The Standard Style that they had received requests from Bulawayo fans to bring the singer to the city.

“When we thought of the idea to celebrate together with Rebecca her 30-year musical career, we had planned a one-day family show on May 28 at Harare Gardens,” said Chikosi.

“However, we have since received irresistible requests from Bulawayo fans and as a result, we will host another show for Bulawayo residents on May 29 at Queens Sports Club.

“The idea of the Gospel Divas’ concert is to celebrate the success of gospel female musicians who are also mothers. Rebecca Malope has had a successful musical journey which is inspirational for many local artists. It is for that reason that we decided to give female musicians a chance to share the stage with the gospel music icon.”

Chikosi said they would mix local upcoming and seasoned female gospel artists to support Malope during the two shows. The Harare show features Olivia Charamba, Amanda Sagonda, Agatha Murudzwa, Carol Mujokoro and Irene Tigere.

Olinda Marova-Ziwenga, Bethany Pasinawako-Ngolomi, Sharon Manyonganise, Joice Simeti, Hannah Chikosi-Mapepeta and Rumbi Zvirikuzhe wrap up the Harare show line-up.

In Bulawayo, Malope will be supported by Abigail Mwembe, Lady Tshawe, Lorraine Stotombe, Tholakele Ngomayabo, Rudo Amor Nyoni and Thobekile Nleya, among others.

Chikosi said tickets for the family shows would be released soon, selling at $10 for adults and $5 for children at all Red Rose salons in the capital and Sis Bees Restaurants, Fingers Hair Salons and Sandys Hub in Bulawayo.

In her career, Malope has released 36 chart-breaking albums‚ winning many awards‚ selling millions of copies and gaining legions of fans across the world.
