HARARE City eased the pressure on their under-fire coach Moses Chunga with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Border Strikers at Rufaro Stadium yesterday.

Jerry Chipangura and Martin Vengesai struck in the second half to ensure the Sunshine Boys put last week’s defeat to How Mine behind them.

“It’s always good to win. We have been inconsistent as well as goal shy of late and today we could have won by a bigger margin, but I will take the two goals,” Chunga said after the match.

He added: “I can’t say I am happy with my performance so far because I always want more. This job at Harare City is wanted by many, so there is a lot of pressure and rumours, but I don’t live for that, that’s why I am Bambo.”

The hosts were by far the better team in the match, but failed to test Strikers goalie Talent Sande early on.

In fact, it was the hosts’ keeper Max Nyamupangedengu who had to make an excellent double save to keep his side in the match just before the half hour mark as the half ended in a stalemate.

The opener came in the 49th minute when Chipangura controlled Takudzwa Chimwemwe’s long-searching cross with his chest, which he turned and shot beyond Sande to give the hosts the lead.

Eight minutes later, Chiveya failed to hit the target with a free header from inside the box service coming from Chimwemwe yet again.

Another ghastly miss would follow from Vengesai, who flashed his effort wide in a one on one situation with Sande.

Vengesai ended the match as a contest in the 73rd, capitalising on a clumsy piece of defending by Ephraim Mwinga, gathering the loose ball to fire home past Sande.
