His name was, however, not entirely new as he had won the Starbrite talent search show a few years ago.

Stage brilliance, well-composed songs and collaborations have ensured a steady ascendency for the 24-year-old artist in the food chain.

To date, some know him through last year’s hit Heavy Machine which has pervaded local charts, with the video making it on international and regional television channels playlists.

But, Bryan K, as he is affectionately known among music followers, is fixing his eyes upon a greater goal and his new single titled Ndopenga which was released on Friday explains it all.

“It talks about my story. A story that I think most people can relate to. It is a message that one should not worry when executing a plan, when people say you are crazy,” he told The Standard Style on Thursday.

“It’s a motivation that you should not worry even if things seem not to be moving, but rather stay focused and keep on working to achieve your goal,”

Ndopenga which features dancehall chanter Dobba Don was produced by South Africa-based Zimbabwean producer Mr Kamera.

The Afro-soul musician said he was putting most of his energy into studio production as he relishes his second album scheduled for end of the year.

“I will probably release my album at the end of the year, but for now I am working on more singles in the build-up,” said the Marunjeya singer.

Last year, he also featured on Mr Kamera’s song Pamusika and professes the production opened doors for him, adding to the endorsements from different companies who wanted to use the song Heavy Machine for their campaigns.

“I managed to link up with musicians from other countries who loved the song and wanted to collaborate,” he said, adding that he derives motivation to work hard from his fans.
