So much is expected from the highly rated former Bantu Rovers player ahead of the coming season in the Belgian League where another Zimbabwean, Knowledge Musona, plies his trade.

But first the Brugge fans needed to know a bit more about their latest acquisition and as is the norm with all new players at the club, Nakamba had his first interview last week.

Below are excerpts of the interview the 23-year-old Warrior had with the Club Brugge website.

Introduction

My name is Marve Nakamba

Born in Hwange on 19 January 1994

How was your youth?

I grew up in a small family. I only have brothers; we are a family of boys.

I stayed in Hwange for the first four or five years then after that we went to Bulawayo the second largest city in Zimbabwe that’s where I grew up.

By that time I liked the sport, watching football, playing football and that’s when it occurred to me that my life revolves around football. I could sleep with a ball next to me.

Who influenced you to play football?

It’s my family. I think they played a big role because at our house it was all about football, especially on TV. We used to watch delayed matches. my father really loved football.

We stayed close to one of the stadiums (Barbourfields) where professional teams play in Zimbabwe so I grew up playing football outside that stadium.

What’s your best moment in your career so far?

I can say I have two memorable moments.

First it was when I arrived in Holland. I had a chance to play against Chelsea and it was a dream come true for me playing against (Cesc) Fabregas and also last season when we won the cup, it was also a great moment for me. It was my first cup in professional football. (Vitesse the KNVB Cup in April)

Do you like surprises?

(Laughs)

Who do you admire the most?

My father. he is a role mode to me.

Who did you send your last message to?

I think my mom, today.

What is your dream vacation?

Ibiza (an island in the Mediterranean Sea off the east coast of Spain)

Which other sport do you like?

I like tennis, but I am not good at it.

Who is the most beautiful woman in the world?

My girlfriend (chuckles)
