PROMINENT Harare businessmen and socialites among them, Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure, last week thronged the funeral of local businessman Obert Bako (65), the father of youth pressure group, Zimbabwe Entrepreneurs Youth Action (Zeya) vice-president Brighton ko, who died on Monday at Dandaro Clinic in Borrowdale due to lung failure.

The socialites, who were driving their top-of-the-range cars at the funeral, paid their last respects to the father of one of their own, Brighton.

Bako, who was buried in Zhombe on Friday, was the founder of Prolific Boreholes, which has two branches in Harare and Bulawayo, where the youthful businessman and socialite Brighton is a director.

He is survived by his wife Eustina, six children and 10 grandchildren, who include Zimbabwe’s top junior motocross champion rider Emmanuel Bako and top junior motocross riders Munyaradzi and Junior.

Fashion designer James Pande said their organisation had lost a pillar of strength and a father figure who lived a humble and honest life.

“It’s sad to lose such a hardworking elder who had a good heart especially through his efforts of empowering and creating jobs for young people,” Pande said.

“It is high time for young people to realise that the burden is slowly coming to us as we continue to lose influential elders in our society.”

Pande urged young people to embrace the spirit of hard work and avoid short cuts as exhibited by the late Bako.
