ZAMBIA-based rapper and singer Sinbad 90, real name Innocent Stambuli, has made a bullish statement that Zimbabwean hip-hop artistes, including himself, had starved fans of real “real hip-hop” and his latest EP (extended play) titled Dry Mouth is the perfect remedy.
Dry Mouth was released a fortnight ago and carries tracks such as Bhundu Boyz, which is already making inroads into the Power FM Hip-hop Basement charts after it debuted in the Sounds of the Future, Vanovenga, Mzukuru wa Buda and Hupenyu Ndewa Mwari.
All the tracks were produced by Zambian I-Pro while Hupenyu Ndewa Mwari was produced by a local artiste — T Man of Mt Zion on the Elders Riddim, which also featured tracks from Winky D and Decibel.
“It’s been long since I have dropped new music. I last dropped an album in 2016, so I feel like my fans have been thirsty for my works, hence I called it Dry Mouth,” Sinbad 90 said.
“It’s more like a sample of what I will offer later this year.
“Zim hip-hop has been dominated by fly-by-night trap sound and fans are in dire need of real hip-hop, which I deliver. We should go back to real hip-hop and speak real issues affecting the everyday people.”
The artiste revealed that he was working on his album titled Broke or Not which is expected to be ready early next year.
