POPULAR Johane Masowe prophet Madzibaba Jonah, born Biggie Musanzika (pictured), of Centenary, in Mashonaland Central province, is optimistic that Zimbabwe will overcome the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.

The man of God said the Holy Spirit had covered with a shadow his congregants and those in the country to escape from the pandemic that has wreaked havoc across the globe.

Speaking to Standard Style, Madzibaba Jonah said people should not panic, but follow health tips by government since God told him that the disease would soon pass.

“This disease will soon pass. God spoke to me on December 31 last year and I told my congregants about the deadly disease, but I was promised that not one of my congregants would be affected and I also prayed for the whole country to overcome,” he said.

“I was also told that this year a lot of people would go insane, hence there was need for prayer. We prayed about it and God is in control.”

Madzibaba Jonah has taken heed of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s decree prohibiting public gatherings and is conducting his sermons on social media.

“As the Apostolic sect, we heard what the president said and we have since stopped our church gatherings and have gone digital where we are conducting our services via social media,” he said.

Meanwhile, Madzibaba Jonah’s video where he prophesied about Covid-19 went viral in January, but many people in Mashonaland Central province labelled him as fake before the pandemic hit Zimbabwe.

He has urged people to pray for one another and avoid panicking.

“Our God hears, we just urge one another to pray for each other and avoid panicking because this is a passing phase,” he said.
