Pharmacist offers US$20 maintanance

The magistrate ordered him to pay US$30.

A Harare pharmacist has accused his ex-wife of costing him his job after she filed false charges of domestic abuse.

Enock Chirende made the claims in court as he insisted on paying US$20 maintenance for their nine-month old child.

His ex-wife, Nyaradzai Maremwa, told magistrate Ayanda Dlamini that she wanted US$200 in maintenance per month and claimed Chirende was earning US$400.

Chirende said he could not afford her demands.

“I am currently unemployed because she reported me for physically abusing her,” Chirende submitted.

“The case is still to be finalised and that is how I lost my job.

“The only money I can give her is US$20.”

Dlamini ordered him to pay US$30.
