Harare man vandalises graves

The suspect, Panashe Nyawasha, was remanded in custody pending bail hearing.

A 27 year-old man from Warren Park appeared before a Harare magistrate, Donald Ndirowei, facing two counts of vandalising graves and attempted murder.

Prosecutor  Rufaro Chonzi, on July 29, Nyawasha was seen destroying some graves at Warren Hills cemetery with a hammer.

He was confronted by city council security personnel at the cemetery, and he responded by severely assaulting them with a hammer.

He was later subdued.

The court heard that one of the security guards sustained a broken leg due to the assault.

The value of  the damaged graves is US$1500..
