In a major drive for inclusion, Special Olympics Zimbabwe (SOZ) is set to host its inaugural Fundraising Golf Day on October 18 at the Royal Harare Golf Club.
The 'swing for support' event is a crucial step in raising essential funds for the 2026 Special Olympics Zimbabwe National Games, which will be held at Mucheke Stadium in Masvingo.
"This Golf Day is more than a sporting event; it is a drive for inclusion," SOZ highlighted in a press release.
"The funds raised will directly enable athletes with intellectual disabilities from across Zimbabwe to participate in the national games, experiencing the life-changing power of sport through competition, camaraderie, and empowerment."
SOZ acting director John Muringani stressed the event's importance.
"The road to the 2026 national games begins now,” Muringani said.
“This Golf Day is the first critical step in ensuring that every athlete who dreams of competing has the opportunity to do so.
“The funds raised will cover essential needs like athlete kits, equipment, logistics, and catering, making the National Games a reality."
