BUSINESSMAN and football administrator Chris Mtungwazi is the new Zifa Southern Region chairman following a shock election result where he trounced Warriors and Highlanders legend Zenzo Moyo in Bulawayo yesterday.
Mtungwazi, a former area zones chairman in the region, garnered nine points to assume the new leadership role.
Moyo got just four votes while Lloyd Munhanga, who was chairman, received one with another challenger Tawanda Tali of Bulawayo Warriors, getting two votes.
Munhanga had been co-opted into the position after the ouster of the Andrew Tapela board.
Matabeleland based Tafadzwa Mutowa retained his position as vice-chairman after he got 13 points shrugging of challenge from Martin Mhlanga who recieved just three votes while Talen Vision's Elton Manyosi went home empty-handed with zero votes.
Tizirayi Luphahla was retained in the board after securing 15 points, while Prince Ncube also returns to the leadership with 14 points at par with with Tatenda Ncube while Lovemore Kuvheya got 11 points.
Another shock defeat was handed to former Zifa normalisation committee member Sikhumbuzo Ndebele, who fell in board members plebiscite after getting only seven points.
