A Dynamos of hope and dreams but no fullfilment

Even the crowds are getting bigger and bigger as the supporters believe their class of 2026 is the team that will bring them happiness.

The drum beating, song and dance is getting louder at Rufaro Stadium as Dynamos followers gather week in and week out with renewed belief in their team of choice — Dynamos Football Club.

Even the crowds are getting bigger and bigger as the supporters believe their class of 2026 is the team that will bring them happiness.

The carnival atmosphere has even gone far beyond Rufaro Stadium spreading to places like Barbourfields and Wadzanai Stadiums and the promise is more is still to come.

This comes in the wake of four wins and two draws which have catapulted Dembare to 16 points and to second place, just a point behind Caps United.

Those who follow Dembare will tell you that this is their year and nothing will stop them until the coveted Castle Lager Premier Soccer League trophy is in the home of Bernard Marriot.

Sadly one artist sang "There is a danger in loving somebody too much" and that danger also comes in loving Dynamos too much because one does not see where they are getting it wrong.

Dynamos fans do not see that their team has not faced any strong opposition to be classified among the leading contenders for the title.

They have so far played an ailing Simba Bhora, Mwos, Bulawayo Chiefs, Tel One, FC Platinum, Highlanders, and Agama but are still to play Scottland, Ngezi Platinum, Caps United and Hardrock.

The manner in which they struggled against Agama and later on FC Platinum would have forced a rethink on their dream.

Moreso that the team is made up of average players and lacks a game breaker who can change the course of the game when the chips are down.

Surely, the Dynamos supporters do not see anything wrong with their team and their frustration and anger will be directed elsewhere should the team fail — the club executive headed by Vincent Chawonza.

On that premise, the too talkative Chawonza should ensure that player bonuses are available and in time now that salaries are paid by their new sponsor.

Remember there are already problems following the resignation of Spencer Chihota, David Chikomo, Justice Mubayi, and Bartson Nkoma, and that ghost might refuse to die.

It does not need seven matches to convince some of us of the pedigree of a team but genuine and convincing performance on the field of play and Dembare do not exhibit that.

It is 12 years since Dynamos won the title under Kalisto Pasuwa and the truth is it will take another 10 years for Dynamos to win another title - that is if they are ever going to win it again.
