MUTARE-businessman Kenneth Muchina says churches have an important role to play in uniting the nation.
The businessman was invited in Chikanga constituency by the United Methodist Church (UMC) where they were celebrating the coming in of a new priest.
On the same day, Muchina was also invited by the United Church of Christ of Zimbabwe (UCCZ) where it was opening its new circuit in Chikanga.
Muchina was the Zanu PF candidate in the 2023 elections.
On both occasions Muchina was in the company of Manicaland provincial Affairs minister Misheck Mugadza.
The businessman also took the opportunity to donate food hampers and pledged to donate paint for the refurbishment of the UMC premises.
He also donated money to the UCCZ.
The churches would forward the food hampers to the elderly and the disadvantaged.

Muchina told this publication that he was overjoyed following his engagement with the churches.
“It’s an honour when you are invited by churches,” he said.
“I took my time to interact with the congregants from both churches and l was with my minister Advocate Misheck Mugadza my able leader.
“Churches play a key role in shaping our society and uniting the nation and this is the reason l have seen my President Emmerson Mnangagwa visiting churches on countless occasions.”
Muchina has been visible on the ground as he has been on an anti-drug abuse crusade in Chikanga and other communities in Mutare.
“I am still fighting drug abuse in Chikanga and most parts of Mutare,” he said.
“I am helping youths to start income generating projects because when you are busy it's difficult to think about drugs, an idle mind is dangerous.”
Reports show that drug and substance abuse is on the increase among the youth due to economic hardships.
“I am working with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision that youths should not take drugs, youths you are future leaders of this country, please desist from taking drugs,” Muchina said.
President Mnangagwa has urged judges and magistrates to mete harsh custodial sentences on drug dealers in order to curb drug and substance abuse in the country.
