In a world where setbacks can feel like dead ends, development practitioner and World Life Changers Founder and Director Desmond Chikamhi offers a powerful message; failure is not final, and every ending is an opportunity to begin again.
The passionate humanist who launched his first book titled Yes You Can last year will be launching his second one titled Try Again at Cresta Oasis Hotel on the 5th of December from 5:30pm to 8pm with a powerful confirmed guest list to include government ministers, parliamentarians, academics, business people, creatives, book lovers as well as family and friends from across Zimbabwe.
Speaking to Standard Style, Chikamhi said he is a voice of resilience and he is counting on his literary works to inspire positivity amongst Zimbabweans and all those who will have an opportunity to read his publications.
“I grew up under difficult circumstances and I believe I more than an author, I want to be beacon of hope for countless individuals navigating life's challenges. Born in Zaka and having experienced the worst in life, I have dedicated my life to empowering others, helping them discover their potential and overcome adversity.
Your present circumstances must never determine your future and I want every citizen of this great nation and all over the world to embrace the message of determination and resilience against all odds. We may all be in the gutter but the future belongs to those who choose to look at the stars and pursue their dreams against all odds,” he said.
Recently honoured with a Doctorate in Development Studies by the Cambridge Digital Digital University, an American University in India, Chikamhi's work transcends academic achievement. His mission is deeply personal and profoundly practical with a view to equip people with the mindset and tools they need to transform their lives, no matter the obstacles they face.
“From Yes You Can to Try Again and others coming after them, the goal is to promote a culture of facing challenges head on.Yes You Can is a rallying cry that inspired readers to believe in their abilities and pursue their dreams with confidence.
The book resonated with audiences across Zimbabwe and beyond, establishing my work as a voice of encouragement in the personal development space.

I am happy to be launching my second installment on December 5, 2025 titled Try Again, a powerful sequel that builds upon the foundation of my first work. If Yes You Can was about discovering your potential, Try Again is about what happens when you stumble, fall, or fail along the way,” Chikamhi said.
Chikamhi went to further to explain that in life we all face challenges and stumble but we must never allow temporary setbacks to become permanent snares that hamper our progress.
"I believe success is not about never falling, it's about rising every time you do. Try Again is thus a continuation of my people development narrative, focusing on two essential qualities that separate those who achieve their goals from those who give up, the power of resilience and determination.
In these pages, readers will discover that adversity is not an enemy but a teacher. Through compelling stories, practical wisdom, and actionable strategies, I am guiding readers through the difficult moments when giving up seems easier than pressing forward. I am also showing that setbacks are not signs of weakness but opportunities for growth and that every ‘no’ brings you closer to your ‘yes’,” he said.
The publication addresses all of life’s predicaments be they professional challenges, personal struggles, or the weight of unfulfilled dreams and Chikamhi who is set to speak at the African Summit on Entrepreneurship and Innovation (ASENTI 2025) from November 13 to the 15 in Rwanda called on all progressive Zimbabweans to be part of the movement.
"Try Again offers the encouragement and tools you need to keep moving forward. It's a book for anyone who has ever felt like quitting, reminding them that their story isn't over, it's just beginning a new chapter.
We are inviting all progressive Zimbabweans to be part of the book launch. Not just for the launch related festivities but for them to tap into the positive spur that is going to characterise this launch event. The invited guests and panelists selection is deliberately designed to inspire hope and excellence amongst our guests and by that we are launching a community of doers who defy odds and shrug adversity in their quest for self-determination,” Chikamhi said.
Both of Chikamhi’s books were published by Royalty Books, led by renowned editor and publisher Phillip Chidavaenzi who is celebrated for bringing quality African literature to readers worldwide. Multi-award winning creative agency will be curating the book launch event with various creatives expected to spice up things with some cameo performances.
