In a remarkable celebration of excellence, Unique Gear Fashions (UGF) capped off a successful business year by winning a prestigious gold award at the Zimbabwe CEO's Network Best in Zimbabwe awards held in Harare last weekend.

The fashion house’s founder and managing director Anyway Masunda told Standard Style that the gold business excellence award was in acknowledgement of the company's exceptional contributions to the local fashion industry and solidifies its reputation as a leader in innovation and quality.

“We are grateful to be honoured amongst the best brands in Zimbabwe and we want to thank the Zimbabwe CEO’s Network for this accolade,” she said.

“It’s one thing excelling in your area and another getting acknowledged for it and we thank the awards organisers for this honour.

“We are big on fashion and giving our clients the best look possible hence we feel this award motivates us to excel in our area of interest.

UGF's success at these awards underscores its commitment to providing quality clothing tailored to the lifestyle of its clients and Masunda said her clients should expect better services and products in 2026 and beyond.

“This accolade is a perfect cherry on top for what has been an exciting business year where we disrupted with an amazing product range and service profile,” Masunda said.

“Our clients have been giving us some amazing reviews and we are happy that the brand has grown into a celebrated powerhouse from humble beginnings.

“The future looks even brighter and we are geared for new highs in 2026 and beyond.”

Masunda also expressed her gratitude after receiving the award thanking everyone who has been part of her journey even when the odds were staked against her.

“I feel incredibly honoured to receive this recognition. It reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire team,” she said.

“We pledge to continue providing the best service and high-quality products that our customers have come to expect from us.

“A special thank you to everyone who has believed in this brand from early days even when the odds where highly staked against us.”

From humble beginnings selling from car boots and with continued growth, UGF has ventured into the competitive world of tenders, successfully competing with industry giants for corporate business.

“We are not just another boutique. We have formalised our brand and work with respected companies to supply corporate wear, applying effective marketing and brand positioning,” Masunda explained.

While facing the usual operational challenges, UGF has strategically invested in business operations to ensure client satisfaction without compromising affordability.

“All our products are rightly priced, and we offer credit facilities for our loyal clients, ensuring they are always dressed to impress,” Masunda stated.

UGF is also committed to the empowerment of women by recruiting marginalised individuals and partnering with women-led organisations. Masunda emphasised the impact this has had on community development.

“We work hard to ensure that no woman is left behind in the development and empowerment matrix,” Masunda said.

“There is power in unity and we want to continue leveraging our strengths in the empowerment of women and other marginalised groups as we grow the company.”

Celebrating the achievements of the past decade, Masunda expressed heartfelt gratitude to their loyal customers and stakeholders.

“We have come this far because of the invaluable support from our customers and stakeholders, who have always believed in us since our car boot days,” she said.

“We hope to continue this journey together into the next decade and beyond.”

As UGF looks towards the future, the recent gold award serves as a testament to its commitment to excellence, setting the stage for continued growth and innovation in the competitive landscape of Zimbabwean fashion.

With a perfectly positioned branch in the avenues area of Harare’s CBD, UGF continues to offer exceptional service while firmly establishing its place as a premier fashion destination in the region.

The company, which was founded in 2015 by Masunda, has evolved from humble beginnings into a formalised brand known for tailored, classy clothing and image consultancy services for individuals, corporates, and celebrities alike.

"Unique Gear Fashions was born out of a desire to bring the best out of people through appropriate attire,” Masunda said.
