Zvirikuzhe marks 20 years in gospel music with new album

After two decades of ministering through song, Zimbabwean gospel musician, songwriter and worship leader Rumbie Zvirikuzhe is preparing to celebrate a remarkable milestone with the launch of her latest album titled Through It All, on October 10 in Harare.

The event, which coincides with the celebration of 20 years of worship (2006–2026), is expected to bring together gospel music lovers, church leaders and fellow musicians for an afternoon and evening of praise, worship and thanksgiving.

The celebrations will also feature guest appearances by gospel artists Agatha Murudzwa, Trymore Bande, Raymond Chakanyuka and Tanzania's John Alex, while several church leaders, including Pastor Haisa, Blessing Shumba, Pastor C. Vengere and Apostle P Sambo, are expected to grace the occasion.

The album title, Through It All, reflects Zvirikuzhe's journey of faith over the past two decades and draws inspiration from Isaiah 43:2: "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you... when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned."

"Celebrating 20 years in ministry is not about my achievements, but about God's faithfulness,” Zvirikuzhe said.

“Every song I have recorded tells a story of His grace through every season of my life.

“Through It All is a testimony that no matter the storms, challenges or victories we encounter, God remains faithful.

“My prayer is that everyone who listens to this album will find hope, healing and a deeper relationship with Christ.”

She added that the anniversary concert is more than an album launch.

“This is a thanksgiving celebration. I want people to come expecting an encounter with God through worship,” Zvirikuzhe said.

“We are simply celebrating what the Lord has done over the past 20 years and trusting Him for greater things ahead.

“My desire has always been to lead people into genuine worship and point them to Jesus.”

Born at Silveria Mission in Masvingo province, Zvirikuzhe's passion for music was nurtured from a young age.

She attended Kuwadzana 4 Primary School in Harare, where she was a member of the school's percussion band, before enrolling at Nyadire Secondary School in Mutoko, where she sang in the school choir.

Before embarking on a solo career, she honed her ministry as a backing vocalist for renowned gospel musician Kudzi Nyakudya, an experience that laid the foundation for what has become one of Zimbabwe's enduring gospel music ministries.

Her breakthrough came in 2006 with the release of her debut album, Mwari Inhare — also referred to in some publications as Jesu Inhare — which featured the popular worship songs Uya Mweya Mutsvene and Mweya Nenyama.

The project established her as one of Zimbabwe's leading female gospel artists.

Over the years, she has consistently released music that has strengthened her place in Zimbabwe's gospel fraternity.

Her discography includes Tenzi Chirambakusakara (2009), Restoration (2011), Mutsawashe, Kwajeka (2017), Zvoramba Sei Apo (2023) and now Through It All, which commemorates her 20-year journey in ministry.

Throughout her career, Zvirikuzhe has collaborated with respected gospel musicians including Reverend Togarepi Chivaviro, Lloyd Tevedzai, Olinda Marowa and Tatenda Mahachi, ministering not only in Zimbabwe, but also in South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi and Eswatini.

Away from the stage, she is a qualified teacher, farmer, tailor and entrepreneur.

She is married to Smart Nazombe, who has remained a steadfast supporter of her ministry and has featured on some of her musical projects.

Known for her heartfelt worship, powerful vocals and encouraging messages, Zvirikuzhe continues to inspire believers through songs centred on faith, perseverance and God's unfailing grace.

As she celebrates two decades in ministry, the launch of Through It All is expected to be more than an album unveiling.
