RENOWNED gospel musician Pastor Castor Wenyasha Vhengere’s latest album, Mhepo Nyarara, is gaining traction across Zimbabwe, with churches embracing its songs as anthems of worship, unity and spiritual renewal.
The eight-track album has been well received at church conferences, youth gatherings and indigenous church festivals, with songs such as Batanidzayi Vana and the title track, Mhepo Nyarara, resonating strongly with worshippers.
The project also features Matendera Here, Zvirimo, Zvinobvepi, Pane Vana, Chirwere Rudzii and Vasvinudzeyi.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Zvapupu Zvajesu Apostolic Church Annual Feast of Tabernacles and Conference at the church’s headquarters in Mahusvu, Chikomba, Vhengere said he was humbled by the response to the album.
“I appreciate the reception by fans and the audience,” Vhengere said.
“This album acts as a stimulus for societal uprightness, an agent of social cohesion and a prescription for spiritual growth. When people sing, they are healed, they are corrected and they are drawn closer to God.”
Vhengere said the album was deliberately crafted to address challenges affecting families, communities and the church while encouraging believers to deepen their relationship with God.
He also used the conference to call for greater unity among indigenous churches, urging gospel musicians to use their art to build bridges rather than reinforce denominational divisions.

Vhengere paid tribute to members of the African Apostolic Church under Bishop Ngoni Mwazha who died in last Friday’s fatal Chivhu accident.
“As gospel artists fellowship with other indigenous churches, Ubuntu must be our guiding principle. We are one body in Christ. In times of pain and in times of celebration, we must stand together for spiritual growth and for the nation,” he said.
He said indigenous churches had a critical role to play in promoting moral values, strengthening families and helping communities heal during difficult times.
Vhengere’s performance at the conference sparked a spirited worship session, with delegates singing along to songs from Mhepo Nyarara.
The growing adoption of the album by church choirs and worshippers is positioning Mhepo Nyarara as one of the notable gospel releases of 2026, with its message of prayer, unity and spiritual renewal reaching audiences beyond Vhengere’s traditional fan base.
