THE Zimbabwe Under 19 rugby side will play rivals Namibia tomorrow in the Confederation of Africa Rugby (CAR) Under 19 Championship final after crushing Ivory Coast 21-0 in their second pool match in Tunisia on Wednesday.
The Car tournament is serving as qualifiers for the IRB World Junior Trophy finals set for Argentina next year. The winner between the Young Sables and Namibia will represent the continent alongside South Africa.
The Zimbabweans beat hosts Tunisia 18-11 in their first pool match last week. Zimbabwe and Ivory Coast were deadlock at half-time, but the southern African team’s heavier forwards pack came back strongly in the second-half to hammer the West Africans into submission. They scored three tries through flankers, captain Michael Todd and Graham Lawler, who are both based in the UK. Their third was a push over from the scrum and was claimed by prop Simbarashe Musarurwa.
The meeting between Zimbabwe and Namibia is a repeat of last year when Namibia edged out Zimbabwe 23-20 to qualify for the World Junior Trophy in Wales. —— Thesportsman.info
