Kajawu inspires Daramombe High students at homecoming book launch

Full-circle moments — HellenKajawu (centre) shares insights from her mental health journey with Daramombe students —15 years after sitting in their chairs. Her donated copies of her books now fill the school library.

Fifteen years after graduating from Daramombe High School in Chikomba district, Hellen Kajawu stood before it’s students not as a former learner — but as a beacon of hope.

Her return to the hallways she once walked marked far more than a book launch for Soul Path, it was in fact a full-circle moment of healing, where raw personal testimony met the eager ears of a generation yearning for guidance.

Now a mental health champion, author and transformational speaker, Kajawu says a mental breakdown a few years ago, which triggered her to contemplate suicide and was later followed by her therapy journey marked a huge turning point in which she fell in love and became a mental health champion.

Her latest literary piece, Soul Path is a profound exploration of self-discovery, healing and aligning with one’s true purpose.

Kajawu, who grew up in Chikomba district, stated that her decision to launch the book at her former school was arrived at in the spirit of remembering her origins and roots whilst pursuing higher callings.

In her address, she shared how her journey — from a student at Daramombe to a transformational speaker and author — was shaped by lessons she learnt both in and outside the classroom.

“I was taught English and Literature here, this is the school that shaped my speaking and writing skills,” stated Kajawu.

Students listened in rapt silence as Kajawu revealed her own battle with suicide ideation — a moment teachers later called “a crack in stigma surrounding mental health in our community”.

She encouraged students to overcome their fears, shame and societal expectations.

“There was a time I wanted to take my own life because I felt inadequate, but I then began my therapy journey and the year 2019 was a turning point in my life. I sought help and immediately fell in love with mental health, which I now pursue whole heartedly and passionately”.

She encouraged learners to embrace their unique journeys, reminding them that their dreams were valid and achievable despite their circumstances.

Kajawu’s Soul Path is a testament to the power of resilience, self-belief and the enduring connection to one’s roots.

She handed several copies as donation to the school’s library and pledged to assist and mentor students in discovering  purpose.

There are five key thematic areas in Kajawu’s latest literary piece:

Soul’s eternal nature

Kajawu argues that souls are immortal fragments of the Divine Source (God,Universe,Creator) and how Earth is a school where Souls incarnate to learn lessons, heal, and remember their divine essence.

Life purpose

She emphasises the need to break generational cycles, which she refers to as “Karmic Battons” of trauma, fear and limitations.

She also encourages the reader to embody their “dharma”—your unique soul mission—by aligning with inner truths not societal expectations.

Inner healing path

Kajawu talks of trauma that manifests as trapped energy, unresolvedstories, and limiting benefits passed through generations.

She argues that for healing to occur, there should be a holding space for pain without avoidance, and adds that people should exercise self-compassion and releasing old narratives to create new realities.

Finding your soul path

Kajawu encourages the reader to live from the soul, and not ego through adopting a “how may I serve attitude” instead of “what can I get approach”.

Walking your path

Kajawu challenges the reader to embrace authenticity, reject masks and people pleasing validations.

She also urges the reader to avoid procrastination and to “chase progress over perfection” if they are to succeed and break generational cycles.

Kajawu is a wellness coach and author of two other amazing books—Journey Within and The Inner Healing Workbook.

Her mission is to guide people on their journey within so that they heal their emotional pain, align with their true authentic power and lead a life that is in tune with their unique soul’s expression.
