A bad day at the office for your sports desk “Axe hovers over Chingoka”, (Zimbabwe Independent, July 9).

Not only do they print a most unflattering picture of Gra

nt Flower, one of Zimbabwe’s greatest international cricketers, being bowled neck and crop while playing a very unprofessional cross-bat shot. With all the photos in your library, why not print a more typical and complimentary shot of him?

They failed to record one of, for me, Zimbabwe’s great tennis achievements – Cara Black of Zimbabwe won two crowns at Wimbledon this year, with Australian R Stubbs taking out the number one seeds in the ladies’ double semi-finals in two sets and then beating Huber and Sugiyama 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) in the final.

And then, for good measure with brother Wayne beating Todd Woodbridge and his partner A Molik in an absolute nail-biter; a set down, the Blacks won the second-set tie-breaker 10-8 after saving six-match points, then “eased” the third set 6-4.

I really think that should have been reported – together with the most tremendous congratulations to both Blacks from tennis followers in Zimbabwe.

For the record, when Heath Streak took 13 wickets for 158 in his first match for Warwickshire in June he beat the English County Championships record that had stood since 1900 for the best match return by a county debutant in the history of the championships (Weekly Telegraph, June 16); and remember, “county debutant” includes every top world-class bowler who has ever played country cricket in England.

Mr Editor please don’t hide Zimbabweans’ successes away from us, particularly at this level of sport!
