HARARE – A toddler in Zimbabwe’s eastern rural district of Buhera died after a playmate buried his head in sand and left him on a river bank, police said on Monday.
Police spokesman Superintendent Oliver Mandipaka said the older boy, aged six, dug a sandpit la
st Friday and asked his four-year-old partner to stick his head in, before covering it with sand, legs sticking upwards, in an apparent game. “His body was discovered by a seven-year-old boy on his way home from school,” Mandipaka said, adding that the culprit could not be prosecuted because “in terms of the law a person under the age of seven is not capable of committing a crime”. — Reuter
